Thoughts without a thinker

"Psychotherapy from a Buddist perspective" - Mindfulness, Happiness, Motivation and Inspiration, all in one book by Mark Epstein.
According to Epstein both Buddism and psychoanalysis can shed light on the way human beings suffer. A major focus of both traditions is an attachment to the idea that a 'self' exists, which in many cases is the root of mental illness. He asserts that by practising Buddism you can find freedom from suffering and a sense of calm in your mind.
An interesting premise from the book which is open to question is that westerners feel an unstoppable hunger, whilst easterners struggle with humility,,,,discuss!
